CPAC

CPAC

As you may or may not know last week the best and brightest conservative minds met in Washington D.C. for the 43rd annual CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference).

I did not attend.  I know, I know.  You would think by now they would be asking me to attend, but they didn’t (…sigh…)

I did watch several speakers.  What I saw was AWESOME.

The highlights (of the three I watched) were Ted Cruz’s keynote speech, Marco Rubio, and Allen West.

Awesome, awesome, awesome.

I especially loved it when the conservative minds took the gloves off and REALLY started capping on President Obama’s policies and how they are detrimental to the country.

Reality Based

In my little brain- and I admit it’s little – here are my favorite quotes about what should be screamingly obvious (unless you’re a liberal) about the current tax system:

“A tax cut means higher family income and higher business profits and a balanced federal budget. Every taxpayer and his family will have more money left over after taxes for a new car, a new home, new conveniences, education and investment. Every businessman can keep a higher percentage of his profits in his cash register or put it to work expanding or improving his business, and as the national income grows, the federal government will ultimately end up with more revenues.”

Then there was a BRILLIANT slam to President Obama and the Democrats regarding unemployment:

“Our tax system still siphons out of the private economy too large a share of personal and business purchasing power and reduces the incentive for risk, investment and effort – thereby aborting our recoveries and stifling our national growth rate.”

“The largest single barrier to full employment of our manpower and resources and to a higher rate of economic growth is the unrealistically heavy drag of federal income taxes on private purchasing power, initiative and incentive.”

To stimulate the economy this is what they suggested:

“[We will present a bill that will] include an across-the-board, top-to-bottom cut in both corporate and personal income taxes. It will include long-needed tax reform that logic and equity demand … The billions of dollars this bill will place in the hands of the consumer and our businessmen will have both immediate and permanent benefits to our economy. Every dollar released from taxation that is spent or invested will help create a new job and a new salary. And these new jobs and new salaries can create other jobs and other salaries and more customers and more growth for an expanding American economy.”

President

And I swear to you, I almost stood up and cheered when I heard:

“You cannot negotiate with people who say what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is negotiable.”

And then, of course, I was so proud when a speech was concluded with “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.”  It was such an awesome CPAC.  And…er….wait a minute.

Oh. My. Gosh.  I am so embarrassed.  I had my notes all mixed up.  Those quotes weren’t from CPAC.  They were from John F. Kennedy.  Well, you’ll forgive me, after all Kennedy was a great conservative Republ….what?  He was a Democrat?

WOW.  Look how much the Democrats have changed.  I doubt Kennedy would even recognize his own party.  Those quotes from Kennedy are WAAAAAAY different from such revealing quotes as:

“The conventional viewpoint says we need a jobs program and we need to cut welfare. Just the opposite! We need more welfare and fewer jobs.” – Jerry Brown

On the subject of rape on college campuses, (or would it be “campi”?) Rep. Joe Salazar said women don’t need guns, “It’s why we have call boxes, it’s why we have safe zones, its why we have the whistles.”  It makes you wonder why women would spend any time in a “rape zone.”  Wait a minute, why the hell do we have “rape zones” in the first place?!?!?

“The harsh fact of the matter is when you’re passing legislation that will cover 300 million American people in different ways, it takes a long time to do the necessary administrative steps that have to be taken to put the legislation together to control the people.” – Congressman John Dingell

About the 2nd Amendment Al Sharpton said, “People do not have the right to unregulated rights in this country.”

And my personal favorite, Congressman Hank Johnson on Guam: “My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize.”

But, of course, it’s the Republicans who have changed.  It makes me laugh.  Of course I have no right to talk.  After all, I use words like ‘perpendicular’ when I language at people so they think I’m good with vocabularying.

LIFEZILLA:  I’d exercise, but I’m still trying to perfect my “before” picture.

  1. …And I swear to you, I almost stood up and cheered when I heard:

“You cannot negotiate with people who say what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is negotiable.”

O, Hell yeah!! Couldn’t agree more w/that statement. That’s why I too am cheering right now & thanking God Romney’s not our President. Wouldn’t be suprised if Willy-Mitt coined that phrase himself.:-O

…women don’t need guns, “It’s why we have call boxes, it’s why we have safe zones, its why we have the whistles.” It makes you wonder why women would spend any time in a “rape zone.” Wait a minute, why the hell do we have “rape zones” in the first place?!?!?

We have ‘rape zones’ because the male penis can’t be trusted after dark on college ‘campi.’
As a stand-up comedian once put it: women are looking for the ONE MAN to satisfy her EVERY need. Men, on the other hand are looking for EVERY woman to satisfy his ONE need. (That includes the ugly jaded ones too who have no self-control or respect for women & boundaries, unfortunately).
So, is that answer to have all college girls packin’ heat? Sure!! Why not? Attending a co-ed function would literally be a BLAST! I imagine that young college men would just love the idea of slow dancing & letting their hands wander a little bit so they could ‘stroke her GLOCK.’ Ooh, baby.
Yep, Everyone should just strap & carry @ all times in & @ all venues/functions…Hey, What could possibly wrong?

“Our tax system still siphons out of the private economy too large a share of personal and business purchasing power and reduces the incentive for risk, investment and effort – thereby aborting our recoveries and stifling our national growth rate.”

    …Then there’s reality: As of today 3/20/2013, Per BANKRATE.COM: Today,our Natl unemployment rate is @ 7.7%.
Last month it was @ 7.9%.
And, last year @ this time it was @ 8.3%.
The DOW is trading @ 14,500 as I type. (Above where we were in 2007 Just b4 the Great Economic Clusterphuk. That means the sky isn’t falling anymore, Chickenlittle… In fact, quite the opposite)
Remember what happend with too much ‘RISK’ & no oversight… Remember? It was such a great idea for economic booming yep yep yep… until the bubble bursteddddededed & the economic house of cards fell. Don’t get amnesia. Cutting revenue to pay for our country doesn’t work.
(ie: If you have a fulltime job and a substantial creditcard balance, Reducing your work schedule to parttime & thereby reducing your income to pay your debt wouldn’t allow you to pay down your balance faster.)
Let’s try common sense! It’s time to pay the piper if we’re ever going to get serious about our natl debt.
Yes! Cut GOV spending. But don’t think the balance from yester-spending on a couple wars goes away if you don’t make payments. Nobody needs a tax cut. We already did that during the Bush era and it gave our nation a false sense of security. Americans need to be more personally responsible with the money they take home right now today. Save, Save, Save… What more can I say? The real entitlement program is in the American mindset that “BRAT-LY” suggests that we deserve to have “more stuff” through the power of purchasing. (I can buy whatever I want, you wine.) Tho’ your income would suggest otherwise. So what!!??!!, you scream. I HAVE CREDIT CARDS!!
And the subject of economic slavery was so hotly discussed last time.
Newsflash: economic slavery isn’t on ‘THE- RES’… it’s on the statements in your file cabinet.

  2. So according to Russ, the American people cannot be trusted with their own money. By all means, we should trust the govt. with it. Oh wait, that’s not what you are saying? Kind of sucks to have people put words in your mouth, doesn’t it.

    • In the grand total of all the things you’re paying for in your life, Wendy… It’s good to see that one of them is finally ‘attention’… to the conversation(s) in your head. So, how are your economic slave neighbors doing, by the way? Were they relieved to know that you consider them as such? Now that you’ve properly labled them, I’m sure that you and the “RES” dwellers will enjoy an enriched, more fulfilling lifstyle together in community-harmony. Way to bridge that diversity gap. Kudos!
Any other brilliant feedback or thoughts on topics such as: ‘Rape zones,’ concealed weapons on ‘campi’ or the status quo regarding today’s economy? I anticipate your words of enlightenment.
Oh, and your right with the not trusting the Govornment thing.
Solution: Just stop paying your taxes… voila: No more trust issue. That’ll show em.’

  3. Gas prices…$1.86. Eyes rolling. I guess if you want to use that, it would only be fair to include in July 08 they topped out at $4.05. Wait, but he wasn’t President yet! Hmm. Crazy, right? Impossible.

But, more importantly, you are conveniently ignoring the obvious, the President’s link to the price of oil per barrel and what little control he or she has over that, but I guess if it makes you feel better, go ahead and think that. 🙂

    • Tisha,
I like the that you said “He or She” (referring to the POTUS) in the above post. Very subtle!
I have a funny feeling that there just may be a gender shift in the white house come 2016;-]
